What Is Respiratory Home Care?
Respiratory home care is specialist support for adults who need assistance in managing breathing-related needs at home. This may include non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care, ventilator support, airway support, oxygen routines, positioning and daily monitoring.
With the right care plan, training and supervision for the care team, many adults with respiratory needs can receive structured support at home. This could include simple clinical tasks like nebulisation to complex tasks like suctioning or day-to-day management of a tracheostomy & ventilator.
Our nurses and carers work closely with the outreach teams from local ITUs or centres of excellence (e.g. Lane Fox Unit) that provide support, advise and assist with consumables related to respiratory home care.
Secretion management, maintaining adequate oxygen saturation, could be a challenge for some patients. Our team will work closely with the Doctors, Nurses and Physiotherapists from the discharging hospital/ unit to implement the recommended protocol.
