Our team supports adults with ventilation needs, both non-invasive (through a mask) and invasive ventilation (through a tracheostomy)

Specialist Respiratory Nurses provide leadership in managing patients dependent onventilators. Nurses lead the induction, training, and ongoing supervision for all our care staff with additional training provided by Consultant Respiratory Physiotherapists.

Quality monitoring through clinical audit forms key part of our clinical governance process where the nurses visit the patients home once or twice a month to monitor adherence to protocol.

What Is Ventilator Care?

Ventilator care is specialist support for adults who need mechanical breathing support at home. This may include invasive ventilation through a tracheostomy or non-invasive ventilation using a mask/ nasal canula etc

Some people may need ventilator care after hospital discharge, while others may require long-term respiratory support due to neurological, spinal injury, brain injury or respiratory conditions.

Secretion management, maintaining adequate oxygen saturation, could be a challenge for some patients. Our team will work closely with the Doctors, Nurses and Physiotherapists from the discharging hospital/ unit to implement the recommended protocol.
